MISSION—According to a recent study published by House Method, 5×5 Brewing Co. was ranked 126 in “The Top 150 Most Popular Breweries In the U.S.”, #7 in the State of Texas.
The study analyzed every craft brewery in the U.S. on four factors: the number of Facebook followers, Instagram followers and, Yelp reviews, as well as the average Yelp rating. They compared the data for those factors against the other breweries using a weighted scale with a total potential score of 50.
5×5 Brewing Co. has been in distribution less than two years. In that time they have become the largest craft brewery in the Rio Grande Valley, distributed to over 150 bars and restaurants in the area. “In 2020 we will begin a canning program and expand our distribution from a regional brewery to the broader Texas market,” says George Rice; Director of Operations, “When you get a group of veterans together with a wide range of backgrounds and skills, you can be sure we will complete the mission.”
5×5 Brewing Co. is 100% Veteran Owned and Operated, and recently, added Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa to the ownership team. Hinojosa is a Texas State Senator and Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran. The company has a veteran preference hiring policy and most recently, they announced a Brewing Apprenticeship Program with South Texas College and with a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission, the first of its kind in the U.S.
Says Rice, “When you get a group of veterans together with a wide range of backgrounds and skills, you can be sure we will complete the mission.”
