As one of the premier beer festivals in the country, Door County Brewing Company is incredibly excited to be part of 28th Annual Great Taste of The Midwest. A celebration of craft beer, The Great Taste of The Midwest is the second longest running beer festival in the country. It will be featuring more than 150 of the best breweries around and will be held at Madison’s beautiful Olin Park overlooking Lake Monona.
Not just a tasting event, this is a beer festival unlike any other, “It’s a brewers’ festival, and that’s a little bit different than a beer festival,” Great Taste Chairman Mark Garthwaite told The Beer Baron. “You’re actually talking to the people who make beer. Not all events are like that. This is what we hope is a showcase event for them. It’s not just the value of going to the festival and having a good time, it’s being with the people who actually made the beer and are proud to show you who they are and what they do.”
This year’s fest will also include a “Vendor Mall” with numerous beer exhibits, regional beer publications, and beer ingredient providers in attendance. Focusing on the beer, this year’s festival will also include wandering UN-amplified musicians for entertain- ment. In addition to over 1000 craft beers, there will be food from the best of Madison like The People’s Bakery, Banzo, Jamerica, The Smokin’ Cantina and more.
Gearing up for this years festival we have been brewing some extra special brews for you. For this year’s Great Taste we brewed a Pêche Sauvage wheat beer, aged with peaches and fermented with souring bacteria, a Svart Vinter Imperial Porter, spiced with cardamom and aged on oak and a C&C Club: Wild American Ale hopped with Citra Hops and fermented with only Brettanomyces Clausinii.
Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to try new Door County Brewing Company beers and celebrate The Great Taste of The Midwest this Saturday, August 9 from 1-6pm at Olin Park in Madison.
