September 27th marks Hop City’s second anniversary in the Magic City, and if last year‘s celebration is any indicator, this year is going to be a blast! The event is planned from ten a.m. to ten p.m; and will include many unique, seasonal, and one-time beers from local and nationwide breweries. Entry to the event is free, there will be a live on-site broadcast by local radio station Birmingham Mountain Radio, and food vendors Saw’s Street Kitchen, Steel City Pops, and Cantina will be set up to provide tasty bites to go with the fantastic beer selection.
Hop City is the largest independent craft beer and wine retailer in Birmingham, offering over 1000 options in wine, over 1000 different craft beers, a wide array of homebrewing supplies, and a sixty-six-draft Growlertown bar, where patrons can fill up their growlers with draft beer to take home, sample new brews, and grab a pint or two with friends. Hop City also offers a selection of craft sodas, including non-alcoholic rootbeer on draft, and has recently brought in craft mixers for cocktails. The store boasts a very knowledgeable staff who welcomes afficionados and craft beer newbies with equal enthusiasm. Regular wine and beer tastings are scheduled weekly, allowing guests to try new products and learn what they like.
Hop City was founded five years ago, in Atlanta, Georgia, by Kraig Torres. In 2012, Hop City’s second location opened in Birmingham in the Pepper Place district, and quickly gained popularity with local .
