Today, Uinta Brewing Company announced winning a company record three awards at the prestigious European Beer Star competition. Baba Black Lager, Cutthroat (Uinta) Pale Ale and Detour Double IPA all brought home silver awards in the Bohemian-Style Schwarzbier, English-Style Bitter and Imperial India Pale Ale categories.
Each year the competition brings together local, regional, national, and international breweries to compete for awards that honor the world’s best brewing in the European style. On October 9th, a panel of 115 master brewers, beer sommeliers and recognized beer experts from 27 countries tasted and judged 1,957 beers from 44 different countries in 55 categories at the Doemens Academy in Munich, Germany. The awards are given on the Olympic grading scale of Gold, Silver and Bronze. This year, awards were a significant achievement, since there have never been as many beers submitted in the competition and, with an increase of 21% over 2014, a new record participation was achieved.
“Uinta isn’t a fresh face around the European Beer Star Awards having previously been awarded 4 times over the past 6 years,” says Steve Mills, CEO for Uinta Brewing Company. “Winning one award is an achievement that any brewery is ecstatic to do. Winning three at such a distinguished competition is a huge accomplishment for us and speaks to both the high quality of our beer and the hard work from every employee at Uinta.”
The prizes were awarded on November 11, 2015, in the Nuremberg Convention Center, in Nuremburg, Germany.
