Las Vegas Breweries Encourage Donations After Mass Shooting

Just hours after a mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas left nearly 60 people dead, and more than 500 people injured, video cameras showed people forming long lines at area blood donation centers, wanting to help any way they could.

Breweries in the community are also reaching out.

CraftHaus Brewery in Henderson, Nevada, a Las Vegas suburb, handed out non-alcoholic beverages to people waiting in line at a blood bank Monday.

“It is amazing to see our community come together,” CraftHaus’ Wyndee Forrest tells CraftBeer.com. “We are strong and we will come out of this even stronger and united.”

Big Dog’s Brewing Company in Las Vegas is offering a free beer to anyone who donates money or blood.

“Come in this week with your receipt from the donation and we will buy you a beer. No strings attached, just our sincere gratitude for your donation,” the brewery says on its Facebook page.

Banger Brewing says if you visit the brewery Friday and order a Morning Joe or El Heffe, all proceeds will be donated towards helping the victims of the attack.

Wyndee points anyone interested in helping to a Go Fund Me campaign set up by the Clark County Commissioner. The donations will support victims and their families. As of Tuesday afternoon, the campaign has raised just shy of $4 million.

“We are real people who live, work and build a community in Las Vegas and are proud to call Nevada home,” Wyndee says. “We will also need to continue being a travel and tourist destination, so [I] encourage people to continue to visit.”
