Dogfish Head and The Flaming Lips Announce New Beer

The Flaming Lips are anything but your traditional rock band, and now they’ve teamed up with the “off-centered” team at Dogfish Head to create a collaboration beer.

The new beer, Dragons & YumYums, is a 6.5% ABV pale ale that Dogfish Head describes as “lip-smackingly tart” and “intensely tropical.” Brewers added a ton of tropical tastes to the recipe, including dragon fruit, yumberry, passionfruit, pear juice and black carrot juice.

“Our brewery has been obsessed with music since the day we opened,” says Sam Calagione, CEO and founder of Dogfish Head. “Their art is a full-on otherworldly sensory experience and we strive to create that same intense sensational experience for craft beer drinkers in the development of our liquid art.” Beer 101 Course

The Milton, Delaware, brewery has partnered with musicians in the past, including Miles Davis, The Grateful Dead and Pearl Jam.

Dragons & YumYums is set to be out in April 2018. Dogfish Head made the announcement when it released its 2018 beer release calendar. The calendar shows a few more new additions and changes for 2018:

  • Lupu Luau IPA & Namaste White will be available year-round.
  • Wood-Aged Bitches Brew returns with a new wood-centric spin in February.
  • Mixed Media, a saison/farmhouse blend, and Fruit-Full Fort, a Belgian-style beer, will be out beginning in spring and summer (respectively).
