BALTIMORE, MD — Heavy Seas Beer is excited to announce the release of the newest member of the Cannon Crew, AmeriCannon, a Double Dry-Hopped American Pale Ale. It will be released in January 2018 as a year-round offering in all states within the brewery’s distribution footprint.
The newest addition to the Cannon Crew, AmeriCannon, is a bold pale ale that’s been double dry-hopped with Centennial hops and Simcoe lupulin hop powder. The first Heavy Seas beer to utilize lupulin hop powder, AmeriCannon is an intensely flavorful Pale Ale. With an ABV that won’t turn you into a Loose Cannon, it’s a true celebration of American independence.
“I’m not sure I can describe how excited we are about this beer,” says Heavy Seas Brewmaster, Christopher Leonard. “Our goal was to take American Pale Ale in a new direction, elevating the drinking experience to include outrageous flavor and aroma levels in a beer that won’t knock you on your keister. We’ve been working on it for almost a year now, experimenting with myriad hop varieties in many different forms along with new, interesting dry hopping techniques. Ultimately, we’ve chosen a heavy dose of Simcoe Cryo pellets – pelletized lupulin powder – along with Centennial, Citra, and Palisade pellets in our double dry-hopping process. This follows Centennial, Cascade, Palisade, and Simcoe whole flower hops in our hopback; Warrior, Cascade, Amarillo, and Centennial pellets along with even more Simcoe Cryo pellets in the kettle.”
“Hop aroma and flavor are pronounced, with a lean towards citrus, tropical, and floral notes,” says Leonard. “We dry hop this beer with almost double the amount that we use in Loose Cannon, all in 5.75% ABV package that is a hop lover’s dream come true. There is a buzz in the brewery about the release of this beer, as folks in every department have been involved in its development, tasting and providing input at each step along the way. It’s poised to become the new go-to beer for many of the people that work here, including me. So, we now get to share our little bundle of joy with the public, which is thrilling. Cheers!”
AmeriCannon is also the first Heavy Seas beer to carry the Brewers Association Independent Craft seal. AmeriCannon embodies everything that Heavy Seas stands for: We are Fearless. Bold. Independent.
