Tallahassee, FL – Beginning in August, GrassLands Brewing Company will designate one beer in its taproom as the ‘Community Pint’ on a monthly basis. For every pint sold of the chosen beer, GrassLands will donate 10% of the month’s total proceeds to a participating non-profit. Each month, GrassLands will highlight the work of a different non-profit with a particular focus on organizations that protect the outdoors and champion conservation, help animals of every stripe, provide assistance to children, and care for our veterans.
“GrassLands would not exist without the support of the Tallahassee community,” said Founder Gabe Grass. “The ‘Community Pint’ is simply a small way for us to give back and return some of the love we’ve been given since we first opened our doors in 2015.” To kick off the new program, GrassLands is working with Angela Drzewiecki to showcase the work of The Elk Institute. The Florida-based Elk Institute provides education, consultation, treatment, and clinical research service to the military and veteran community with a concentration on treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for returning service members.
Drzewiecki’s husband, Air Force Staff Sergeant and Special Operations Pararescue Jumper Carl Enis, was killed in a helicopter crash in Iraq in March alongside six other crew members. He was 31.
“Helping our military and veterans community deal with the real impacts of fighting for our nation is just one way we can make a difference in the lives of our heroes,” said Drzewiecki. “Mental health education is essential for these men and women. Bringing attention to this issue not only helps our service members do their job safely and strengthens personal relationships, but it also helps remove the stigma surrounding PTSD. Thank you, GrassLands, for supporting this incredibly important issue facing our nation’s military community.”
In addition to donating 10% of proceeds from a chosen beer during August to The Elk Institute, GrassLands and Drzewiecki are partnering to host a special event on Saturday, August 25th at the brewery. The event will feature two beers brewed specifically for the day with 50% of the proceeds from each beer donated directly to The Elk Institute. Additionally, the event will feature a local food truck and live music on the Garages on Gaines patio, just outside the brewery’s doors.
“The best way we know how to raise awareness about the critical work of The Elk Institute is to host a party on Gaines Street and provide the beer,” said Grass. “We’re extremely proud to team up with Angela and we’re humbled by the opportunity to brew beer that recognizes Carl’s amazing sacrifice. It’s quite an honor.” The event will kick off at 5pm and donations for The Elk Institute will be accepted on site throughout the month of August during normal taproom hours.
