The Flatirons Food Film Festival in Boulder, Co. is taking a deep dive into craft beer on its opening night, Thursday, Oct. 11. Along with screening a new craft beer documentary, “Brewmaster,” the Festival is holding a beer-tasting dinner with Ray Daniels, beer and bites tour, and an after party for “Brewmaster” attendees. Following are the details.
Beer-tasting dinner with Ray Daniels, 5-7:15pm, Pizza Squared + Beer (1123 Walnut St., Boulder), an intimate beer-tasting dinner with the founder and director of the Cicerone Certification Program (ticket price includes admission to “Brewmaster”). $55
Downtown Boulder Brews and Bites Tour, 5:30-7pm, a beer-tasting tour that pairs brewer’s choice beer tasters with chef’s choice bites on a walking tour visiting The Post, West Flanders Brewing Company, and Squared Pizza + Beer, Boulder Beer’s Detroit pizza restaurant and development brewery (ticket price includes admission to “Brewmaster”). $55
“Brewmaster” screening and panel discussion, 7:30-10:30pm, a new craft beer documentary that encapsulates the recent history of craft beer by following a NYC home brewer who wants to open a brewery and a beer educator studying to become a Master Cicerone. The film features successful brewers like Sam Calagione and John and Jen Kimmich as well as beer luminaries Charlie Papazian and Ray Daniels. Panelists include Charlie Papazian; Ray Daniels; Jonathan Shikes, beer columnist of Westword and Betsy Lay of Lady Justice Brewing. $13
Suds: Brewmaster After Party, 10pm-11:30pm, The Kitchen Upstairs (1039 Pearl St., Boulder), An opportunity to lift a pint and continue the craft beer discussion.
