The U.S. craft beer movement extends beyond breweries, and now the businesses and organizations who want to show they support independent brewers can adopt a seal of their own.

The Brewers Association (BA), the not-for-profit trade association dedicated to small and independent American brewers, and publishers of CraftBeer.com, is introducing the independent craft brewer supporter seal. The BA is rolling out the new supporter seal for retailers, homebrew shops, state brewers guilds, festivals, websites, etc. — any champions of independent craft breweries.
“While small and independent breweries work heavily to promote their craft, they also rely on a layered group of partners to proudly sell, serve and showcase their beer. These beer community stakeholders have asked for ways to support the independent craft brewer seal, and now they can,” says Julia Herz, BA craft beer program director.
Supporters can access and license the new seal at SupportIndependentBeer.com, a new BA website launching this week. The new website also features an online shop selling seal hats, stickers, and shirts, as well as the “Is it a Craft Brewery?” search engine, which allows you to search a database of all U.S. breweries to identify which meet the BA’s definition of craft.
The supporter seal complements the independent craft brewer seal, the certification mark which the BA launched in summer 2017. More than 4,000 U.S. brewing companies have adopted the independent seal, placing it on their websites, merchandise, and beer packaging. Earlier this month, Dogfish Head rolled out newly-designed packaging for its popular 60 Minute IPA featuring a large image of the seal.
The new supporter seal and SupportIndependentBeer.com are both available now.
