Creature Comforts Brewing Co. will release Subtle Alchemy, a series of continuously evolving expressions from its wood cellar, beginning this Fall. The first blends in the Subtle Alchemy series are expected to be available in the brewery’s tasting room in early Fall.
Each blend is distinct in its parts and singular in the moment in time it is created. Given the nature of the blending process, each beer is unique and cannot be replicated again. Creature Comforts
developed the Subtle Alchemy series in order to discover the endless possibilities with blending. The series explores how new flavors can evolve from combining existing barrels from its wood cellar.
“I’ve always wanted to have a voice from our barrel program that represented the next step – the unique voice blending can create,” said Wood Cellar and Specialty Brand Manager Blake Tyers. “The raw materials shift from grain, hops, yeast, and water to individual beers resting in our wood cellar allowing us to create something truly unique and complex.”
Differing from prior blends released from the brewery, Subtle Alchemy is a series of blends of unrelated barrels that are built from the blend of complementary flavors of the entirely different beers. The brewery is beginning the series with three blends. The first of the blends were created in January with plans for the series to be a continuous exploration.
