BALTIMORE, MD — Heavy Seas Beer is excited to announce the second release in its 2016 Partner Ships series of collaboration beers – a Hoppelbock lager brewed with Troeg’s Independent Brewing. This series will feature beers produced in collaboration with other regionally and nationally recognized brewers in the spirit of friendship, creativity, and adventure. For 2016, Heavy Seas is partnering with Maine Beer, Troegs Independent Brewing, Terrapin Beer, and Stone Brewing Company. The Partner Ships series is brewed at Heavy Seas in Baltimore and celebrates the pioneering spirit of American craft beer today.
The Troeg’s collaboration beer, releasing in May 2016, will be a Hoppelbock, an 8% ABV hoppy, strong amber lager, brewed with all German hops and a large percentage of locally sourced malt from Deer Creek Malthouse in Pennsylvania. “This is a very cool project!,” says Heavy Seas Brewmaster, Christopher Leonard. “We get to host some of our most respected peers, use some locally sourced ingredients, and make a batch of unique, interesting beer with input from both organizations. Our entire brewing team has been having a blast with it!”
The product specs are:
Style: Hoppelbock
ABV: 8%
IBU: 50
Hops: Hallertau Mittlefrue, Opal, Perle, Magnum, Herkules
Malts: Local Vienna (MD), Local Munich (PA), Floor malted German Pilsen, Pale, CaraAromatic
“We began this project not realizing how much we would enjoy it,” says Heavy Seas Founder, Hugh Sisson. “Now that we are on the second release, I think our whole organization is excited and looks forward to the next project in the series.”
