Enjoy a Private Tasting of Two Exclusive Beers on Saturday, September 27, 2014
Buellton, California— Craft beer lovers take beer seriously. Beer aficionados have been known to go long distances for a “hard-to-get” limited release bottle of beer. Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company will be offering craft beer lovers a chance to taste and buy two new exclusive beers releasing this fall under their new second label, Liquamentum.
“Liquamentum is our opportunity to experiment and get a little crazy,” says President, Jaime Dietenhofer, of the new brand. “The name means ‘concoction’ in Latin which allows us to experiment with unique blends like brewing beer with wine or aging our beer in Pinot Noir and Whiskey barrels. With Liquamentum, we can think outside of the box and create beers that have never been seen before in the craft beer market.”
Brewmaster AJ Stoll is offering two initial beer releases as a chance for customers to try Liquamentum beers before the official launch this spring. Double Down Davy Brown Ale (10.7% ABV) and Hell’s Half Acre Barleywine (11.4% ABV) are both barrel-aged beers that any “beer geek” would appreciate. Aged for 12 months in Bourbon and Pinot Noir barrels, respectively, the new releases are ready to drink now or they can be cellared to enjoy at a later date.
“Only 250 cases were produced of each beer so we’re expecting this beer to go fast,” exclaims Stoll. A sneak peek of the two new releases will be held during FigtoberFest at the Buellton Taproom located at 45 Industrial Way in Buellton, California on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Tickets cost $20 and include a new release bottle of your choice (retail value: $14.99), small bites and tasters of the two new beers. Brewmaster AJ Stoll will walk guests through the brewing and aging process for each beer along with how to pair the beers with food. For those that cannot attend the pre-release party, bottles will be on sale in the Buellton, Santa Barbara and Los Olivos taprooms starting Saturday, October 4, 2014. About the Beers:
Double Down Davy Brown (ABV 10.7%):
Davy Brown Ale has been one of our best-sellers and award-winners for some years now. More than that, it’s one of our favorite beers. One of our favorite beers to brew, to drink and to share with family and friends. We love this beer so much that we did what any appreciative brewery would do: double-mashed it and bourbon-barrel-aged it. This double-strength version of our beloved brown ale has all the qualities of the standard, plus the sherry/red fruit overtones of aging and a subtle undertone of American bourbon.
Hell’s Half Acre (ABV 11.4%):
Sitting below McKinley Peak, the tallest mountain in the Los Padres range, exists a craggy valley of boulders and rock outcroppings. Hell’s Half Acre, as it is called, is certainly one of the roughest and most textural features in Santa Barbara county. For its namesake, we brewed the most layered, complicated and textural beer to date: a massive, complex barrel-aged Barleywine. After a battle of epic proportions to fit the most malt we have ever put into our mash tun, testing the limits of our yeast’s strength and aging for 18 months in locally-sourced Pinot Noir barrels, we give you Hell’s Half Acre Barleywine. A viscous, vinous, ominous brew: sherry, oak, toffee and caramel on the nose with massive body and flavors of spun sugar, red fruit, granola, treacle and chocolate.
