Single digit temperatures in addition to a couple feet of snow may not sound idyllic to some, but for outdoor enthusiasts it sounds like a perfect day to hit the great outdoors! Whether you enjoy snowboarding, skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, or just being cozied up on the couch at home Kannah Creek Brewing Company’s new winter release is the perfect way to celebrate these awesome winter days.
Vertical Drop Robust Red Ale is a complex malt driven ruby red ale balanced with a light hop bitterness. It is a medium bodied beer that is malt forward and finishes with a nice zing from the Zeus, Challenger, and Mt. Hood hops used in the beer.
“We are excited about the release of our sought after Vertical Drop Robust Red,” states Kannah Creek’s Sales Director David Boone. “The complex grain bill on top of the combination of three different hops combine to create the perfect winter seasonal beer.”
Kannah Creek Brewing Company held an in-house competition to name their winter seasonal and received 83 submissions from employees. The name Vertical Drop was the winner and is commonly known as the distance between the summit and base of a mountain, measured straight down.
Currently the Vertical Drop Robust Red Ale is available on draft and in 6-packs throughout Colorado, and will be available in New Mexico and Nebraska in December.
Background
Kannah Creek Brewing Company opened as a small brewpub in 2005 in Grand Junction, Colorado. During the first seven years of brewing the focus was always on quality as seven traditional beer styles and multiple seasonals and specialty beers were developed. With several awards and a growing demand Kannah Creek expanded into a brand new 12,000 square foot 30 barrel production facility in 2013. Kannah Creek Brewing Company now bottles three mainstay beers including: Lands End Amber, Standing Wave Pale Ale, and the Broken Oar IPA.
