Outer Light Brewing has conducted years of market research and quality control (i.e., lots of drinking) over the years. Here’s a snippet of what we discovered:
- People in Connecticut really like DIPAs.
- People around the country really like Galaxy hops.
Galaxy hops, with their monstrous pineapple juice flavor, are remarkably hard to find. In addition to being grown only in Australia, the hop farmers down under seem perfectly content producing hops at their current pace and show zero interest in increasing their workload. Furthermore, it doesn’t help that about 60% of 2016’s Galaxy crop was wiped out by flooding.
While we give you a taste of Galaxy in a couple of our beers (Making Waves DIPA, Punching the Ocean DIPA), we also recognize that other fantastic hops exist other than Galaxy, Citra, and Nelson Sauvin. Really, it’s true!
Look Ma, No Floaties DIPA showcases two of our favorite “others”: Ella and Vic Secret. These Australian varieties produce distinct pineapple, tropical fruit, and star anise flavors. In fact, Ella is a half-sister to Galaxy.
