A New Vigor To The Brewing Program Allows YBC To Show Off Styles And Innovation
YONKERS, NY – Yonkers Brewing Co. announced today that 25-year brewing veteran Dave Hartmann is taking the reins as Brewmaster for the company. Along with his expertise and knowledge Hartmann brings recipes that have won numerous awards at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF), the World Beer Cup and other festivals and competitions. The renewed focus on bringing great beer to Yonkers and beyond is a key component of the company’s 2017 success strategy.
“I saw a huge opportunity with Yonkers Brewing and it was the perfect time to join the team,” said Hartmann. “When I first met with team YBC their passion for the city, for the craft and for growing the business was exactly what I was looking for.”
When he graduated from the UC Davis Master Brewers Program in 1994, Hartmann already had brewing experience under his belt. After working six years with then startup Empire Brewing Company (Syracuse, NY), Hartmann joined Long Trail Brewing Company in 2009, eventually becoming their Brewmaster in 2011.
Yonkers Brewing Co. is currently growing their wholesale business, adding four new sales people and a sales director in addition to the new Brewmaster. “Dave brings award winning knowledge and a passion for the craft; and as we enter the next chapter of the business I am confident that Dave will be a big part of our growth,” said BrewEO John Rubbo.
“Trading in 135,000 barrels per year for a projected 4,000 is a big change, but our relationship with Two Roads allows us to perfect the core brews while creating fun and innovative limited time offerings on the smaller in house system,” said Hartmann.
YBC uses respected contract brewer Two Roads Brewing for brewing and bottling their Yonkers Lager, Yonkers IPA and Shower Time Pale Ale. While the core beers are done in big batches, the YBC tasting room’s small system allows the brewers to get creative, producing styles such as Double IPA, Imperial Porter, Smoked Marzen, Sours and more.
At YBC, we want to connect the people with our beer to make the best experience possible. We will host our big reveal party, open to the public, on March 31st, featuring Dave’s limited time offering brews. For more information on the party, visit www.yonkersbrewing.com.
