Share Post

Who: Cape May Brewing Company

What: Events!

When: Early-mid June

Where: The Jersey shore

Why: Because it wouldn’t be summer without cold beer in cool places…

On Saturday, June 13 from noon-10pm and on Sunday, June 14 from noon-4pm is the inaugural Wildwood Beer Fest at Fox Park. Wildwood may be “tacky and proud of it,” but the town knows how to throw a classy beer party. More than 100 breweries, including CMBC, will be on site, as well as food vendors hawking savory veal meatballs, spicy guacamole, and cheddar-battered and fried cheese curds that were featured on The Food Network. Sip to a soundtrack of live music, courtesy of bands Stellar Mojo and That’s What She Said, or partake in a homebrewing class. Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 at the gate. For more info, visit wildwoodbeerfest.com.

On Saturday, June 13 from noon-4pm and 5-9pm will be the inaugural Atlantic City Boardwalk Beer Festival in the courtyard of Harry’s Oyster Bar and on the surrounding boardwalk. Breweries from near and not-so-near will pour their latest libations against a backdrop of games and live music. Oysters, clams, shrimp, burgers, pulled pork and other great-with-beer foods will be available for purchase. Says event organizer BJ Hamilton: “Everyone’s been cooped up all winter, so we wanted to get everyone outside. What could be better than enjoying nice weather and music by the beach with great beer? Cape May Brewery has an excellent product and a huge draw – their craft beer is synonymous with the region, so they’re a great fit.” Tickets are $40 for a four-hour session and include a souvenir glass and unlimited beer samples. On Friday, June 19 from 5-8pm will be a Beer Dinner at Morton’s Steak House in Atlantic City featuring four courses, including seared scallops with sweated leeks, crisp shallots and roasted grape tomatoes; a bibb lettuce salad with spiced pecans, port wine-soaked cherries, green apples, blue cheese and a vinaigrette made from CMBC shandy; an eight-ounce filet mignon with grilled broccolini, truffled mashed potatoes, and peppercorn demi-glace; and chocolate stout cake with cider ale-poached pear. Each will be served with a tasty brew from CMBC that’s been hand-selected by Executive Chef Daniel Beggs. “Cape May Brewery has that local, Jersey-fresh thing going on,” he says. Adds General Manager Michael Flannelly: “They’re a company of really nice people who make great beer. When we put it on tap, we sold through their Coastal Evacuation quickly and now we’re moving through the Honey Porter. We like to support local breweries, but we also just really enjoy this beer, so it worked out perfectly.” Tickets are $95 per person. For more info, call 609-449-1044.

About Cape May Brewing Company:

Once upon a time, twenty-something Ryan Krill earned a six-figure salary working in finance and real estate development in Manhattan, while his college roommate, Chris Henke, designed satellites. During a summer weekend at the Jersey shore, they brewed a batch of beer with Ryan’s dad that wasn’t half bad. “Should we open a brewery?” Ryan asked, only half-serious. But, by the following year, the three guys had secured a space at Cape May Airport where they concocted a makeshift brew system and honed their beer-making skills. In 2011, they started with one client. Today, there are over 300 accounts in Jersey and Pennsylvania proudly serving the guys’ award-winning recipes. And CMBC’s fearless leaders have never looked back.
