Deschutes Brewery announced today that its craft beers will be available in Pittsburgh starting April 21, 2014, just in time for Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week. The Oregon-based brewery will be partnering with Frank B Fuhrer Wholesale Co. for distribution of its beers in the Pittsburgh area.
Stacy Denbow, expansion manager for the brewery, said, “What an awesome time to launch into Pittsburgh – right before the kickoff of Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week! And to do so with a great partner in Fuhrer Wholesale Co, a family-owned and operated organization with core values that matched our own. We will join their Craft Beer Division.”
Beer is slated to be available in Pittsburgh beginning April 21 with launch events scheduled the week of May 19, 2014. Initially, Deschutes Brewery will be offering Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, the nation’s number one selling craft porter, Chainbreaker White IPA, and its summer seasonal, Twilight Summer Ale. The beers will be available in 12 oz. bottles and draft.
Deschutes Brewery prepared for growing its distribution area over the past few years by increasing their capacity at their main brewing facility to 450,000 barrels. 2014 started off with a launching into Ohio and Kentucky, celebration events are slated for next week’s launch in South Central Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin and Michigan will round out the brewery’s new markets later this year.
