Asheville, NC — Hi-Wire’s summer seasonal, Uprisin’ Hefeweizen, will hit shelves May 13th and will be available in stores and bars through July. A traditional German style Hefeweizen, Uprisin’ utilizes the availability of local malted wheat in Asheville to create a beer with a connection to place.
“This beer has a creamy mouthfeel due to use of a large amount of local Riverbend Malt House wheat,” said Luke Holgate, Head Brewer of Hi-Wire Brewing. “Traditional Hefeweizens, like Uprisin’, are brewed with 50% or more wheat and we are lucky enough to live in a city that allows us to locally source this product. It may be more expensive to do so, but it is always worth it.”
HI-Wire Brewing focuses on brewing beer that is approachable and balanced, preserving the heritage of the craft by often brewing beers in traditional ways. Uprisin’ Hefeweizen is no exception. Clocking in at 5% ABV, it has the flavors of banana, clove and spice that one would expect from a traditional take on this beer.
“There is a mild hop aroma from German Tettnanger hops that balances out the natural banana and fruit aromas given off by the Hefeweizen yeast.” said Holgate. “All the flavors in this light and easy drinkin’ summertime brew are rounded out with a slight spice on the tail end. Both light in color and flavor, this is definitely my go to warm weather beer.”
Uprisin’ Hefeweizen can be found in 6 packs of twelve ounce bottles in grocery stores and bottle shops, as well as on draft in various restaurants and bars throughout North Carolina. Uprisin’ Hefeweizen is Hi-Wire’s summertime seasonal ale and joins a lineup of three other seasonal beers: fall’s Lion Tamer Rye IPA, winter’s Strongman Coffee Milk Stout and spring’s Contortionist Black IPA.
