Boulder Beer Co. and The World Outdoors are partnering to create Hops & Huts, a quintessential vacation for beer lovers that’ll let you enjoy cold craft brews in the comfort of Colorado’s classic huts.
Sensational at least, sipping a chilled brew after a long hike is both the outdoor enthusiast’s and craft beer lover’s ideal way to kick back post-trail. The World Outdoors, a 28-year-old active-adventure guide company that specializes in national park hiking and multi-sport vacations, captures the essence of the Coloradan Rocky Mountains by fusing the best of three native pieces:
- Its own expertise in outdoor adventure trips
- Colorado’s first craft brewery, Boulder Beer Co.’s extensive brew knowledge
- The state’s historic and tranquil 10 the Mountain Division Huts where American troops trained as skiers and outdoorsmen prior to WWII
The result of this perfect intersection of ideas became an all-inclusive, fully-guided four day, three night hiking trip that takes connoisseurs high into the Colorado Backcountry to hike — and of course, totally chill out.
How It Works
Day one: The group departs from Boulder, Colorado, on a historical tour to Camp Hale, passing the iconic Turquoise Lake and then proceeds to Skinner Hut, the highest in the hut system at 11,800 feet for 4-6 mile day hike.
Post trails, Boulder Beer Co. experts and The World Outdoors guides co-host a high country happy hour. As the sun sets, you’ll sit on the hut’s wrap-around porch and sample a variety of handpicked summer beers paired hors d’oeuvre. Revel in a Shake Chocolate Porter with classic s’mores or a well-earned warm baked cookie.
Nights will unfold into storytelling, camaraderie presents itself, and you’ll relax in comfy beds after a mellow evening relaxing on the porches sipping beer.
Hops & Huts: A Trip for the Soul
The essence of Hops & Huts is to recreate a quintessential Coloradan experience. It is the kind of trip you’d expect to hear about from the average native who seeks adventure and appreciates the good things in life.
“Colorado is an outdoor behemoth — a craft beer hub — and it is loaded with historical gems like Skinner Hut and Peter Estin Hut. We wanted to combine the best of what speaks simple, good living.” says Scott Phillips, TWO President.
The trip is all-inclusive, local day hikes in the Holy Cross Wilderness and along the old railroad Midland Trail with hut lodging all three nights. Upon return to Boulder, you’ll enjoy a post-trip bash with a private brewery tour at Boulder Beer Co. Two guides and Boulder Beer Co. experts handle everything from driving to carrying to cooking. All you have to do is show up and enjoy the ride.
