Independence Brewing Crowdfunds Renovation

Share Post

Austin’s Independence Brewing Co. recently announced the renovation of its tasting room which will feature an updated design, expanded hours and new pricing system. Founders Rob and Amy Cartwright have launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to get Independence fans, beer lovers and the community involved in the renovation from the ground up.

Various contribution levels include supporter t-shirts, founding membership of the brewery’s ‘Mug Club’ (includes special discounts and an annual party), a personalized star on the ‘wall of stars’, one of 10 seats at the Stammtisch table (in the German beer hall tradition, this is a table reserved for locals), and even an opportunity to brew with head brewer Brannon Radicke on the new 3.5 pilot system. The campaign runs through February 10, 2015.

The new tasting room design includes a larger wrap-around bar, additional seating, new lighting, and various room renovations. With an increased number of taps, patrons will now be able to pay by the pint and can enjoy a flight of Independence Brewing Co.’s award-winning brews. Eventually, Independence will be offering experimental beers that will only be found at the brewery.

Saturday, February 21 will mark the official unveiling of Independence Brewing Co.’s newly renovated tasting room with a grand re-opening party, open to the public. After that date the tasting room will be open every Thursday and Friday evenings as well as Saturdays 1 – 7 pm.

While not the primary source of financing for breweries, crowdfunding helps brewers turn dreams into reality. As stated by Indiegogo CEO and co-founder Rubin:

“What people forget is when you are an entrepreneur, your job isn’t done, you still have a business to run,” Rubin said. “The Indiegogo campaign helps push it forward.”
