Mother Road Brewing Company will hold a celebration honoring Route 66 icon and preservationist, Angel Delgadillo on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 4pm. This celebration will be held at Mother Road’s new brewery at 1300 East Butler Avenue, Suite 200, Flagstaff.  Delgadillo, 91, is the founder of the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona in 1987 and has been dubbed the ‘guardian angel’ of route 66. He will attend the celebration with his family.

Delgadillo will be honored for his preservation efforts, tireless promotion of Route 66, and the donation of his records and memorabilia to NAU’s Cline Library Special Collections and Archives. Mother Road’s newest fermentor will be named the Angel Delgadillo and will join the named fermentors of Cyrus Avery, father of Route 66, Henry Ford, and E.L. Cord.

The celebration is open to the public and will include brief remarks from the Marquess family, a speech by Angel Delgadillo, and a presentation on the Archives and their Route 66 collection and preservation efforts. Following the remarks, Andy See and His Swingin’ Jamboree will provide entertainment, and a food truck will provide dinners and snacks for sale. A portion of  Mother Road beer sales that evening will be donated to the NAU Archives.

Mother Road Brewing Company is a growing craft brewery located along Route 66 in Flagstaff, Arizona.  Mother Road was John Steinbeck’s name for Route 66 in The Grapes of Wrath.  The original brewery on Mikes Pike, the 1926 alignment of Route 66, is dedicated to experimental beers and processes, while the new Butler Avenue brewery brews for distribution in kegs and cans.  Both breweries welcome guests into the tap rooms for pints, conversation, games, merchandise, and tours.  Mother Road distributes state-wide in Arizona with Hensley Beverage Company and their partners.  For further information, visit motherroadbeer.com.
