Monument, CO- Pikes Peak Brewing Co introduces two seasonal brews this February. The return of the coffee porter collaboration between Switchback Coffee Roasters and Pikes Peak, and the traditional Dry Irish Stout, Paddy O’ the Peak.
Switchback Coffee Porter features the bold flavors of Colorado Springs’ own Switchback Coffee Roasters special Pikes Peak blend of coffee beans from Brazil, Ethiopia and Papua New Guinea with hints of chocolate. A well balanced beer with a sweet, smooth body, sure to please coffee and beer drinkers alike!
Paddy O’ the Peak was brewed with traditional Irish yeast and conforms to historical brewing methods of this famous St. Patrick’s Day beer by utilizing a sour mash blended into the final batch.
“The Switchback Coffee Porter is a February favorite for Pikes Peak fans, and we are always excited to bring it back each year.” Says Chris Wright, Founder and Head Brewer of Pikes Peak Brewing Co. “Over 10lbs of coffee is added to the fermenter at 32 degrees to perform a cold brew extraction for 2 days.” Chris continued “This year I wanted to brew our stout the traditional way by blending a sour mash with 30 barrels of stout fermented with an Irish yeast. This blend creates the dry, chocolate and roast flavor with just a hint of tartness made famous in Dublin. It is a delicious easy drinking beer to celebrate our house holiday.”
These new releases can be found at Pikes Peak Monument Taproom, as well as at select restaurants and bars around Monument, Colorado Springs and Denver. Paddy O’ the Peak is featured as the local beer in the Colorado Springs Old Chicago St. Patricks day mini-tour that kicks off on February 25th, 2015.
Pikes Peak Brewing kicks off its Celtic Countdown with 3 days of St. Paddy’s Day themed events on March 12th, culminating on Saturday, March 14 with a day long celebration of Irish traditions including Irish Dancers, Bagpipes, and our own Paddy O’the Peak Stout on Nitro.
