Bellaire, Mich. – Short’s Brewing Company, Northern Michigan’s largest craft brewery, is partnering with Grand Traverse Resort and Spa to re-create the Short’s 2007 Imperial Series Beer Dinner on June 7th. The thirteen course meal will take place at the Garvey Family Barn just north of the Resort in Williamsburg, MI.
During the fall of 2006, Joe Short began work on Short’s most ambitious project up to that point: The Imperial Beer Series. The idea was to make a series of imperial strength beers and to provide a modern spin on the creative use of nontraditional and unusual ingredients used in beer throughout human history. The series was bottled by hand and each came with its own trading card and story. Craft beer enthusiasts took notice. Joe decided to hold a beer dinner to commemorate the accomplishment of the series and the people who helped make his dream a reality.
“Creating the series was a challenge and it sometimes didn’t seem to be a natural instinct to do something that’s difficult or something that requires a lot of hard work,” says Short. “However, it takes a vision and a dream to see that working through challenges of insurmountable difficulty can produce something amazing and beautiful. The re-creation of this beer dinner is a celebration of overcoming those challenges and the amazing beer that resulted.”
Joe and his brewery staff will help host the thirteen course small-plates dinner, each paired with one variety from the Imperial Beer Series. The full dinner menu and event details can be found at http://www.grandtraverseresort.com/ShortsBeerDinner. The event will run from 7-10 pm and due to limited space, the event is being limited to 100 people. The cost is $65 per person, which includes tax and gratuity.
