Switchback Brewing Company, Vermont’s first 100% employee-owned brewery, is excited to announce their beers are now available in all New England States. This came to fruition by completing distribution throughout the state of Massachusetts and starting distribution in the state of Connecticut.
On May 1st Switchback Ale became available in Boston and Cape Cod through a distribution partnership with Horizon Beverage. In addition, Switchback expanded into western and northern Massachusetts with Girardi Distributors of Pittsfield and Athol, completing coverage in the full footprint of Massachusetts. On May 8th Switchback Brewing Co added distribution throughout the western part of Connecticut, in Litchfield, New Haven, and Fairfield counties via partnerships with Star Distributors and A. Gallo & Company. The rollout into the new markets will begin with the flagship Switchback Ale, available on draught as well as the unique 12 oz stubby bottles in package stores.
Additions to the fermentation cellar at Switchback Brewing Co. enable the brewery to keep up with the demand in New England and upstate New York. Switchback Ale is brewed using an original 1964 copper brewhouse from the Brauerei Schmucker in Germany. Like all Switchback beers, Switchback Ale is left unfiltered and 100% naturally carbonated.
Many people in Massachusetts and Connecticut have been insisting for years that Switchback be distributed throughout their states. The brewery is delighted to achieve the goal of becoming readily available in all New England states.

About Switchback Brewing Company
Switchback Brewing Company was founded in 2002 by master brewer Bill Cherry and his longtime friend Jeff Neiblum. To maximize complexity and flavor the beer is left unfiltered and carbonated during fermentation by the yeast itself, creating a 100% naturally conditioned beer. The result is a beer that defies easy description, because it is brewed to a flavor idea and not based on any existing style guidelines. Switchback’s flagship beer, Switchback Ale—the number one selling draught beer in Vermont— along with Citra-Pils Keller Bier and Connector IPA are brewed year-round. Switchback’s Rotating Specials include Extra Pale Ale, Märzen Fest Bier, Roasted Red Ale, Dooley’s Belated Porter, Slow-Fermented Brown Ale, and SwitchBOCK Keller Bier. In February, 2017, Switchback Brewing Co. officially became the first 100% employee-owned brewery in Vermont via an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The move keeps the brewery locally owned and operated, still at its original home in the South End of Burlington, VT. Switchback beers are distributed in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
