Samples to be Poured in Twin Leaf Taproom July 4th Weekend
ASHEVILLE, NC — Twin Leaf Brewing celebrated their 100th batch of beer by bottling Grand Cru 100, a 10.8% ABV Quad brewed with 15 pounds of sweet cherries and 10 pounds of golden raisins and aged on French Oak for 3 months. The inspiration for this brew came from the brewery’s humble beginnings when Tim Weber, Twin Leaf Owner and Head Brewer, was just an avid homebrewer and microbiology student.
“When deciding what to brew for Twin Leaf’s 100th batch it felt appropriate to reflect back on our beginnings when I was just a beer geek who loved to tinker,” said Weber. “Grand Cru 100 is a re-engineered version of my 100th homebrew batch. A Belgian Quad was very stylistically different than anything else I was regularly brewing but when the beer was finished fermenting, I knew I had stumbled upon something great. I fell in love with this recipe and, around that time, craft beer as a whole.”
Deceptively drinkable, Grand Cru 100 draws its character from 15 pounds of sweet cherries, 10 pounds of raisins and a lusciously diverse blend of specialty malts. An upfront floral nose is greeted with robust flavors of dark stone fruits and golden raisins. With a high ABV, Grand Cru 100 will age beautifully in a cellar until the time is right to share with friends during a celebration.
“This beer was created to commemorate our beginnings and celebrate our future,” said Weber. “I am so lucky that I get to do what I do everyday and I love that I can create a beer that will then be used to celebrate momentous occasions in other’s lives.”
Available in a limited supply, Twin Leaf’s Grand Cru 100 is currently on shelves in Twin Leaf’s taproom located on at 144 Coxe Avenue and select bottle shops in the Asheville and Charlotte area.
