2015 Secret Barrel Society memberships are now available and will be open until January 1. Last year was the first year of the Secret Barrel Society and it was a great success. Thanks to our 2014 members we were able to purchase a new bright beer tank that we dubbed Sir Mix-A-Lot. This program allows members to skip the sour lottery process as well as have access to special events and several new experimental beers. Every dollar generated through membership will go directly to growing our Sour Ale Program. Here’s to another year of Secret Barrel Society and more funky sours to share.

In the October Sour Release, Secret Barrel Society members were able to purchase two new sour ales never before brewed, Dragonfruit and Rambutan.
Dragonfruit: Stenocereus Hylocereus, aka pitaya or dragonfruit is a fruit bearing cats enjoyed throughout the central regions of South America. The red-fleshed skin surrounds an inner white freckled fruit that is often likened to kiwi similarities in appearance and mild sweetness. This delicious brew is created by aging Sour Reserve on fresh Dragonfruit. Expect aromas of cactus flower and fresh green pepper, with flavors of lemon, tart fruit, and watermelon rind. Enjoy with jerked chicken, good company and key lime pie.
Rambutan: Nephelium lappaceum, aka rambutan is native to Indonesia and Malaysia. The earliest record of rambutan trees shows that they were cultivated by the Malayan jungle tribes. Rambutan trees grow naturally throughout Southeast Asia, and are closely related to several other edible tropical fruits including lychee, longan, and mamoncillo. This beer is a delicate blend of 25% Malefactor and 75% Sour Reserve aged on fresh rambutan. Inviting tropical fruit aromas lead to tangy flavors of grape and zest. Enjoy with pistachios, grilled white fish, and friends.
