Local breweries gather for festival celebrating Fort Collins craft beer and holiday season

FORT COLLINS, Colo – Nov. 5, 2014 – Today, Imbibe Events announced the expansion of their Beer Festivus to Fort Collins. The inaugural Fort Collins Festivus will take place on Friday, December 12 from 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. at YendraBuilt (1304 Duff Drive, Fort Collins CO 80524).

“Fort Collins has a long brewing history going back to pre-prohibition times,” said PJ Hoberman of Imbibe Events. “In more modern times, Fort Collins became home to the second microbrewery to open in Colorado and now more than 20 breweries call the city home. We see this as the perfect criteria for a Beer Festivus.”

Founded in Denver in December of 2012, Festivus, the “beer festival for the rest of us,” is a festival that celebrates local breweries. This year Imbibe Events wanted to bring the festival concept to other cities in Colorado like Boulder and Fort Collins.

For the Fort Collins Festivus, all breweries with a Fort Collins address have been invited to participate. Festival goers will enjoy samples from breweries that opened 20 years ago and breweries that opened last week. Attendees are encouraged to perform feats of strength, air their grievances and of course marvel at the Festivus pole.

Breweries currently participating in the first Fort Collins Festivus are:

1933 Brewing Company

Black Bottle Brewery

Compass Cider

Fort Collins Brewery

New Belgium Brewing Company

Odell Brewing Company

Pateros Creek Brewing Co.

Zwei Brüder Brewing

More breweries will be joining this list.

“Beer festivals in Colorado are like the number of sunny days in the state, 300 plus each year,” said Casey Berry, founder of Imbibe Events. “Festivus differs from these with the focus on local. Each brewery that you sample at the festival, you can go into their taproom the following day for a full pint.”

The Fort Collins Festivus is open to adults 21 and older. A portion of proceeds benefits New Era Colorado Foundation and KRFC FM. Event tickets are $40 and can be purchased at www.focofestivus.com. Tickets includes full beer festival and Slaybells after party.
