GURNEE, Ill.(September 5, 2014) – Firestone Walker Brewing Company has partnered with Domino Printing to ingrate two advanced continuous inkjet and laser printing solutions – Dominos’ A420i and the D320i – into their three main production lines running cans, kegs and bottles of their award-winning pale ales and barrel-aged brews.
With a commitment to quality, the California-based brewer decided, in order to gain consumer trust and deliver the freshest brew possible, the date code must be clearly presented on the packaging. “One of the most critical elements to packaging is the date codes,” said Firestone Walker Packaging Manager Will Crosby. “It’s our commitment to show full visibility of when the beer was packaged and ensure that customers are receiving the freshest product on the market.”
To fulfill this commitment, Crosby selected Domino’s advanced laser printers. “We found a laser would be the cleanest, best looking application,” Crosby shared. “We found Domino would be the best quality, best value and right laser for our application.”
Domino’s A420i Continuous Ink Jet, used on Firestone Walker’s cans, offers the lowest total cost of ownership of any ink jet printer thanks to a new i-Tech (intelligent Technology) service-free ink system that delivers ultra-low makeup usage, reducing costs and operator intervention.
To code bottle labels and cartons, Firestone Walker has employed Domino’s D320i Laser. The scribing laser permanently applies codes to a variety of materials from low to high production speeds, and is capable of producing unlimited lines of text in any orientation, and in many fonts and sizes. The lasers can be managed by Domino’s intuitive remote TouchPanel, or through the web-based interface from any industrial PC.
Both products were built to withstand challenging production environments, including the harsh wash downs required to thoroughly clean brewing equipment.
Since employing Domino’s laser solutions, Crosby shared, “We’ve had almost no downtime.”For more from Crosby, plus an inside look at Firestone Walker’s production line, view this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTE-YRtSTUk
