Santa Fe, NM • October 4th— Santa Fe Brewing Company claimed a bronze medal at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition. Presented by the Brewers Association, GABF is the largest national beer competition that recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States. The top three winners in the competition’s 90 beer-style categories were announced October 4 at the Great American Beer Festival awards ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.
“I’m really happy we won this award. It’s just more incentive to keep making good beer. And if you want my autograph, you’ll just have to buy a bottle.” said Leif Rotsaert, Head Cellarman at Santa Fe Brewing Company. Fun Fact: Every bottle of the Los Innovadores Series is hand labeled and signed.
Santa Fe Brewing was recognized in the American Style Sour Ale beer-style category for its Los Innovadores Kriek. Inspired by the Time-Honored Belgian Style Lambics fermented with cherries, this beer is an incredibly refreshing and balanced take on the classic style. It is aged in American Oak Barrels for two years, blended with generous amounts of Michigan Tart Cherries, and bottle conditioned with Sake Yeast for a unique, yet familiar, experience. Santa Fe Brewing Co. is a 20,000-barrel per year microbrewery located in Santa Fe, NM that specializes in providing beer drinkers with the full craft-beer experience. Whether you’re looking for a wild fermented ale or something more traditional, the crew at SFBC believes you’ll find it behind one of their many distinguished labels.
The 2014 GABF competition winners were selected by an international panel of 222 expert judges from the record number of 5,507 entries, plus 89 Pro-Am entries, received from 1,309 U.S. breweries.
“Once again the Great American Beer Festival brings the best of the best together in one place,” said Chris Swersey, competition manager. “At a time when American brewers offer so much variety, it’s a true honor to be recognized as one of the finest. Our greatest gratitude to the winners and all entrants whose innovative and outstanding beers help make this such an esteemed competition.”
